Mitotic

Mitotic Stages at Root Tip

1.1.            Goal

f  To know and understand the stages of mitosis and meiosis

1.2.            Basic Theories.

Mitosis, process in which a cell’s nucleus replicates and divides in preparation for division of the cell. Mitosis results in two cells that are genetically identical, a necessary condition for the normal functioning of virtually all cells. Mitosis is vital for growth; for repair and replacement of damaged or worn out cells; and for asexual reproduction, or reproduction without eggs and sperm.

1.4.            Working Procedure

Write down the characteristics  of interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase, explained by your teacher n surf results from various sources in the column below !

Pada tabel berikut, melalui gambar yang merupakan karya tangan kalian dan diberi keterangan seperlunya, bandingkanlah setiap proses pada mitosis dan  meiosis I, terutama pada keadaan kromosomnya

1.6.            Questions

1.    Did you observe haploid or diploid number of chromosomes in the root tip cells? Why?

2.   Sometimes you see cells at root tip that do not divide. How could you explain this?

3.   Make a comparison table between spermatogenesis and oogenesis, with a minimum of 4 differentiating criteria !
