Praktikum Enzym

ENZYME II

1.1.            Goal

f  To know the effect of substrate concentration on the activity of catalase enzyme.

f

1.2.            Basic Theories.

Because enzymes are specific in action, certain classes of enzymes will act on certain substrates only. For example, carbohydrases digest sugars and starches; lipases break down lipids; and proteses split up proteins.

1.3.            Tools and Materials

a.        Tools

j  Dropper pipette

j  Ruler

j  Reaction tubes and rack/holder

j  Measuring pipette 10 ml with sucker bulb

j  Scalpel or cutter

j  Marker or labels

b.        Materials

b  Chicken liver

b  Distilled water

b  Hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2)

1.4.            Working Procedure

Write down the working procedure explained by your teacher in the column below !

  1. Prepare 5 reaction tube and place them on the rack, and give labels of numbers 1 up to 5
  2. Put H2O2 and aquades in tube, according the table below !
